I would think not so high-end places off the strip and downtown wouldn't try to gouge you as much...

Joints that are actual hotel/ casinos, not just motels

Arizona Charlie's
Sam's town

Would seem to fit the bill

I'll never go to Vegas again, had my fill of the the place, lived there 6 years.

I'm unlikely to fly again anytime soon, hate airlines and all their hidden BS charges as well !

John Madden does it right !

I just stayed at a JW Marriott in Orlando, $39/night resort fee. Nice hotel, but ridiculous. It's like having to pay for luggage on a flight.

In the U.S., hotels generated nearly $3 billion in 2018 in mandatory hotel fees, according to an estimate by Bjorn Hanson, an adjunct professor at New York University’s Jonathan M. Tisch Center for Hospitality and Tourism. The total represents an 8.5% increase from 2017, and Hanson predicts such charges will continue to rise in 2019 as hotels try to combat increasing payroll and real estate costs.

Resort fees generally run between $20 and $40 a night, although in Las Vegas, where such fees are common, three high-end MGM Resorts properties just boosted the nightly resort charge to $45 from $39, a 15% increase

I never understood how this is OK. They claim it covers the costs of amenities, pools, etc. Isnt that what the cost of the room is. Such a disgusting money grab. Just raise the rate of the room and be done with it. This shady shit really rubs people the wrong way. Its short term $.

Do any of these places with RESORT FEES, really expect you to leave a tip for whoever serves (Maid service) to the room?? Those little envelopes by the Desk lamp or the TV will surely stay empty if I ever pay a resort fee.

I guess they figure if you’re willing to play on a table game with $5, $10 or higher minimums you or your spouse may put a $5 spot in there

now parking fees coming in

I stayed at a Courtyard in Cocoa Beach two weeks ago, plenty of parking available. Got my bill....$5.99 parking fee. I was like, "wtf?" It's one of those hotels off the main drag in freaking Cocoa Beach. Usually those types of hotels have free parking. $5.99 is just nickel and diming.

I stayed in Philly a few months ago at a Hampton Inn, $58! WTF?!?!

I stayed in Baltimore last month, $35.

I had made the trek to Vegas every June for the WSOP for 7-8 yrs now. At the Rio it is free to park. I heard many people this summer say they are wanting to move the venue to somewhere on the strip and that means $20 a day to park plus whatever the dumb resort fees are now, forget what they are @ Rio now. If this happens, I will no longer be patronizing Vegas. They will lose a guy who comes in every summer and drops 3-4k, pays the dumb prices for food-think a burger and fries @ Rio over the summer was $20. I am a low roller in their eyes, but lose enough guys like me and Vegas is screwed. I don't enjoy Vegas like I used to and this will only push me over the edge. I have a feeling there are many other guys out there just like me.

Got a free room last week at the Westgate and still had to pay a $40 per day resort fee.

When we talk about things wrong with the US antitrust law needs to be a part of that discussion.

Thankfully Nevada is no longer on my bucket list! I have had 3 different months of 2 nights comped in Delaware and did not have to pay the resort fee, plus parking is free. I probably won't get any for football season, but can live with it...

At Mohegan Sun, if they comp the room I pay nothing. However, if they charge me some minimal amount for the room, say $ 49, then resort fees and taxes kick in and it cost me a lot more than $ 49

It's going to become a city people visit once, say they've seen it and never return to unless they have to attend a convention for their company.

The only way I'd return would be as resident and never go into the casinos to gamble

It's still not a bad place to retire to.
